Short answer: for a small company that wants anonymous pulse surveys and eNPS with a clear summary for leaders, StaffHero is a flat $99 a month for up to 50 employees. If you already want a broader people platform, Lattice Engagement and 15Five Engage are both $4 per seat per month, and Peoplebox is $2. For quick pulse checks in Slack or Teams, Polly has a free plan and Geekbot charges $0.75 to $1 per respondent per month only for people who answer. TeamMood suits teams that want a daily or weekly mood check.
A pulse survey is a short survey sent often, usually weekly, every two weeks, or monthly, instead of one long annual survey. The goal is to spot changes early and act on them while they still matter. The tools below range from chat polls to full engagement platforms. They differ most in anonymity, how they deliver questions, and how much they help you act on the answers.

How we picked
We looked at the survey tools in our directory and kept the ones that list recurring pulse surveys, eNPS, or regular check-ins as a feature. For each, we checked pricing, free plans, trials, anonymity options, and Slack or Teams support on the vendor’s own site in October 2026. We don’t use review-site ratings. “Not confirmed” means we didn’t find it on the vendor’s site. See our methodology.

How to choose pulse survey software
Decide how often you’ll ask. Weekly or daily checks (TeamMood, Polly, Geekbot) give a fast signal with very few questions. Monthly or quarterly pulses (StaffHero, Officevibe, Lattice, Culture Amp) suit slightly longer surveys with themes and action plans. Pick the rhythm first, then the tool.
Make anonymity clear. People answer honestly when they trust that answers can’t be traced back. Check whether anonymity is on by default, whether it needs a paid plan (Polly puts it on Pro), and what minimum group size the tool uses before showing results.
Plan for action, not just reports. A pulse survey that leads nowhere lowers trust. Look for action planning, follow-up threads, or manager summaries, and make sure someone owns each follow-up.
Compare the real annual cost. Per seat prices look small, but minimums change the math. Lattice has a $4,000 annual minimum and Workleap starts at $4,999 a year plus $32 per manager per month. StaffHero’s flat bands and Geekbot’s per respondent pricing can be cheaper for small teams.
Include eNPS. It’s a simple, repeatable question that most of these tools support. Use our free eNPS calculator to check results or run a first round by hand, and browse more engagement survey tools in our directory.
FAQ
What is pulse survey software?
It’s software that sends short employee surveys on a regular schedule, often weekly to monthly, and tracks how answers change over time. Most tools add anonymity, reporting, and action planning on top.
How often should you run a pulse survey?
There’s no single rule. Mood check tools ask daily or weekly, while most pulse surveys run every two weeks to quarterly. Bain notes that most companies ask the eNPS question monthly. Choose a rhythm you can follow up on.
Are there free pulse survey tools?
Yes. Polly has a free plan for polls with unlimited responses, and Geekbot is free for up to 10 users. StaffHero lets you explore the full product in demo mode for free, but you pay to launch surveys. See our list of free employee engagement apps.
Can pulse surveys be anonymous?
Most dedicated tools support anonymous responses. StaffHero, TeamMood, and Workleap Officevibe are built around anonymous feedback, Geekbot offers anonymous reporting on its Basic plan, and Polly offers anonymity on Pro.
Which pulse survey tools work in Slack or Microsoft Teams?
Polly, Geekbot, TeamMood, Peoplebox, Lattice, 15Five, Workleap, Culture Amp, and Zonka Feedback list both. StaffHero lists Slack. For more chat-based tools, see our guides to Slack employee engagement apps and Microsoft Teams recognition apps.
